My collection of work primarily discusses issues of the human body, the inorganic versus the organic, the natural against the fabricated, the convergence of the two into one solid living form via modern medical practice and the connotations of that union. Theseinterests have been strongly shaped by my experiences with chemotherapy and radiation treatment as an early adolescent, and the various procedures and physical changes my body has undergone. In addition to exploring the corporeal conditions of the body, mywork as an artist is unified in its aim towards examining the psychological impact of these conditions upon both the ‘sick’ and ‘well.’ Through this work, I hope to provoke a deeper consideration of these various states of health and the connotations societyplaces upon them.
