statement about Glausnitzer-Smith's work

An atmospherically, hyperactive substance can merely be arrested in the visual expectation of aesthetic congruence. Instead the action moment immediately toys with several belief systems and conventions of assumed models of perception or pre-conceptions. The intuitive power (trained through a liberation process of the projected self) reveals the unknown self, which is equally part of the same existentially placid value for responsibility as if it was reasoned by the mind.

The work consists 19 c-type photographic prints based on 35 mm colour negatives.
Each image is 30 x 40 inches mounted on 10 mm foam board.

The work is based on the concept of process in time. The image itself in its context exceeds the theoretical intention the viewer is presented with a kind of still life – a still landscape. The common denominator is nature; though captured within different processes of everyday life, the combination of fresh steak, processed by man for human consumption seen together in a moment of the splash of ocean water at the English coastal landscape becomes a situation of displacement. The potential of associations initiates the imagination.
The link of those moments in their visual presentation is sometimes accessible or resides within the context of the surreal.

The two possible states of being, emerge out of a displacement. A combination of simultaneous appearance in an apparent unconventional context, both of which belong to an idea of life’s alternative rhythmic nature.

Always a catch. An evocative picture can only be dispersed within the structure of thought. It moulds itself into the imagination where the memory of pain is triggered by the piercing of needles into the body. Though in the wounds is nothing but black blood. Reason understands: it is only a dead body. That sounds like the conclusion. It is non-human anyhow, there is nothing left to catch. The sea of interpretation is vast and impenetrable, the attempts to cross beyond belief of meaning fail.
