have been cutting up photographs and maps--materials that document the landscape--and rearranging the cut pieces so that the information contained in the pieces is realigned. This manipulation can free these documents of their specificity and certainty, and to allow them to speak more generally about our perception of scale and space and the ephemeral quality of matter in time.
