New York
Art is a reflection of the time that we live in. This is something I have always believed and apply to my own art.I spend a great deal of time watching the world go by; analyzing the people that live here, their relationships with each other and their relationship with the world. I often use my observations and contemplations of life as the basis of my artwork, whether it is a cultural observation, a political issue, or even the banalities of everyday life. Everything begins with an idea, and the rest simply follows like water. For me the concept is what the art is built around; the form it takes, the medium I use, all those decisions are made according to their effectiveness in portraying an idea.

But my art is not just an expression of a personal opinion; it is just a differing viewpoint. My art is not a statement; it is a question that the viewers must answer for themselves. My art is simply a doorway to an idea that someone has perhaps never considered, or never looked at in this particular way. It offers possibilities, not certainties and allows the viewer to unleash their own imagination

and intellect.Of course my art is not all ideas and issues; it is also fun. Like everything in life humor only makes it better. One should be able to enjoy art on more than one level; besides visual appreciation and content, there is also just pure enjoyment. The “fun” side of my work is the balance to the seriousness of the ideas, neither is more important than the other but both are necessary to create the whole. For me, art is life and in life there must always be a balance.- PAPER RABBIT ROOM - Paper Rabbit Room is literally a rabbit that is a room. The outer shell is approximately 12 x 10 x 8 feet and is composed of over 4,000 origami rabbits. The interior is a space about 12 x 3 x 3 feet; large enough to stand or kneel in and is lined with white branches, white felt, and blue Christmas lights. The interior is accessible through the rear end of the Rabbit and upon entering one will encounter three boxes that hold chocolates, cigarettes, and money. Paper Rabbit Room is literal journey through 'the rabbit hole'. Just as Alice travels through the rabbit hole into Wonderland so does the viewer. The Rabbit Room is filled with treats and surprises just as Alice’s Wonderland is and is also a keen look at human behavior. The motivation as to why one enters the room is revealed by what the person chooses to take from the three boxes or even if they notice them at all. Some viewers do not even realize they are there and enter only out of curiosity or to experience the environme
revealed by what the person chooses to take from the three boxes or even if they notice them at all. Some viewers do not even realize they are there and enter only out of curiosity or to experience the environment within. Some will only enter to retrieve the reward. Paper Rabbit Room is much more than just a study in psychology. It is about the formation of a world within a world and the nuances within. It is symbolic of the fantasies we create for ourselves when dissatisfied with reality.

It is symbolic of the fantasies we create for ourselves when dissatisfied with reality. It is a regression into illusions of utopia. It is a diversion into a place of pleasure. Paper Rabbit Room is a wonderful adventure but like any fantasy it is limited and fragile. The treats within will only last for so long and the paper structure is precariously established. But for the brief period of time that it exists Paper Rabbit Room is a marvelous escape from reality.
