Abstraction for Dogs is a series of photographs of site-responsive paintings. These pieces are temporary interventions, consisting of monochromatic geometric shapes painted in acrylic on discarded objects in both urban and suburban environments. They are close to the ground, at dog height.
Some issues I am addressing are traditional and formal, like color, space, surface, and composition. The work also relates to graffiti and marking territory. What we throw out, and our impulse to collect and reuse what we find is documented as well. After I photograph the painted object, I walk away.
