simultaniety [codarts],2005
simultaniety [codarts],2005
simultaniety is a series of digital C-print photographs which capture moments when the interior and exterior of a building collide, when private experience melds with the surrounding architecture: creating a simultaneous private and public space as well as a simultaneous architectural interior and exterior. These works give the viewer a sense of place and it's context in space, to create a fuller sense of ‘being there’.

The images are made using a digital camera but the images are not digitally manipulated as it is important to the concept of the series to capture moments of simultaniety during the process of taking the photographs.

She has been shown in the U.S. including the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NYC and internationally. Since 2001, she has been a part of several online exhibitions/digital festivals.

laurie halsey brown is a hybrid practioner and intra-disciplinary artist from New York presently based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Her artistic focus is to act as a ‘mobilizer’ between architects and the public realm in order to facilitate dialogue, heighten awareness of the daily experience of architecture and empower the user towards establishing their voice in how architecture is designed. She creates research-based architecturally focused projects about 'being there' that investigate place and a psychological, experiential relationship to space. These projects articulate a developing relationship to an environment through a set of intra-disciplinary responses shown simultaneously such as a net.art piece, an installation and a curated exhibition.
