We See It All
Communication is important because it seems a part of our times. We have information all around us. Not only pagers, cell phones, identification numbers, tracking devices, etc., but also other types of communication like computer languages, maps, schematic drawings or diagrams that demonstrate how something should function.

These forms of communication look a certain way, but do not necessarily function in the way that one might expect. There is a disconnection between the form of the communication and its message. I present schematics or images of things that the viewer has to invent for her or himself. In general, representing things two dimensionally creates ambiguities and allows the viewer to play a role, to participate in the viewing. I also include coded language in my paintings. For me, the codes are to the images like lyrics are to music. They add another level of significance in the paintings.
