Series title: Anti-Selfing - The Beauty In The Age of Advanced Mechanical Reproduction

(c) 2004-5

These "female-ish" portraits, which are made of
vegetables and fruits, are taken under my search
for where the "beauty aura" comes from in the
age of advanced mechanical reproduction.

Nowadays, there are so many ways to expect miracles
on your surfaces, and people are spending so much
money for the anti-aging solution.
Living in this circumstance, it seems as if we are no
longer allowed to age naturally, nor remain as a unique
organic form.

I wonder how we can appreciate the beauty of these
organic ladies?

Interchangeable Disturbance (ID) consists of 50 color photographs centered on desires and fantasies of a wedding cake figurine. Her magical transforming energy seems to come from her dissatisfaction with her identity as a determined object. This murky scenario suggests phenomena which shifting surface identity produces an ambivalent presence. While she is simulating magical effects on her surface, she is gradually trapped between reality and ideality. As a result, a mixture of pleasure and disturbance comes to her at the same time. Her never-ending exploration into her identity adds more and more personas to her surface, yet, ironically, her new personas persistently keep her on the wedding cake.
