My paintings are lyrical abstractions formed by combining taped edge shapes and lines. The curvilinear and angled shapes take specific form according to what has already been painted. As I begin laying pieces of tape down on the canvas to create a new shape, I keep in mind an idea of how it may interact with the shapes that have come before it. The line can be seen in two different ways, line that is formed by a taped off edge or the very thin curvilinear shapes that dance around the more concretely rigid structures. I make color choices to match or conflict the values and saturations in the areas, which forces these shape to interact lyrically. Craftsmanship is essential in my work. A quest for precision is one of the utmost concerns I have during the creation of my paintings.
