IMAGE DESCRIPTION : IMAGES 1 & 2 - Purple Pilot Pen Presidential Portraits, Pen on Paper 2004. 42 5 X 7 in, drawings. - This piece is comprised of forty two pen drawings of the American presidents, drawn as if they suffered from male pattern baldness. Each drawing is approximately 5 X 7 in, and they are mounted on the wall in a grid, placed from top left to bottom right in chronological order. The point of the piece is to address the essential maleness that both the Presidency and baldness have traditionally represented. By setting these two very different ideas of masculinity together, I mean to draw lines between power, vanity and vulnerability.

IMAGES 4 & 5 - Self Portrait. Flash animation installed on 9 computer monitors. 2004. - This is an animated self portrait which was installed on nine computer monitors in the computer center at ABC No Rio, an alternative art space in Manhattan. In this piece, I animated my face to words taken from Movies, singers, and political figures. Each computer monitor featured a different combination of animated phrases, and each was set on its own repeating loop, activating the computer center with a random cacophony of sound. - - -

IMAGE 6 - The Road to Nam. Video Animation, 2004. two minutes, thirty seconds. - This is a still from a video animation in which I have used the famous Eddie Adams image of an execution scene in Vietnam, and animated it to the Bing Crosby/ Bob Hope song ‘If I Knew You Were Coming, I'd Have Baked a Cake‘. I am using this image because it is perhaps the single most memorable image from the Vietnam War, and I feel that there are many similarities between those times and today. The song was chosen to make reference to Bob Hope's role as the bard of U.S. troops abroad, as well as the ‘Road’ Movies, in which he and Bing Crosby travelled to exotic locations, encountering zany adventures.
IMAGE 3 - Bubblegumization 2003. Bubblegum and Wrappers on Canvas 2003. 60 X 84 in. This is a world map made entirely out of bubblegum and their wrappers. It is a pun on the globalizing of consumerist culture.

I am interested in working with political themes. I like to address these themes through a juxtaposition of material and message that is funny while subverting or even obliterating the original meaning.
