MEGAN BROADMEADOW Megan Broadmeadow, A Corruption of MAss 28 April - 4 June, 2016

Standpoint is proud to announce the thirteenth solo exhibition of an artist supported by the Mark Tanner Sculpture Award.Drawing influence from the puzzling nature of the chemical element Bismuth, Megan Broadmeadow’s exhibition is a visual and physical exploration of its complex fractal character, and its somehow overlooked placement in cultural history.Megan’s research has uncovered significant disparate histories and arcane uses for Bismuth, including its use as a shamanic tool providing a portal into other realms, its uniquely strong diamagnetic properties, and a particularly intriguing discovery at Roswell that suggests this curious element may yet provide the answer to unlocking the mystery of alien space travel.

CHRISTOF ZWIENER Christof Zwiener, Castor et Pollux (detail) - 2016 31 March - 21 May, 2016

On the occasion of his first solo exhibition at the gallery, German artist Christof Zwiener has developed an installation around threads. Zwiener works with the theme of memory connected to the body and its limits, both internal and external. His interventions, sculptures and works are often minimalistic, based on historical events and documentary research, in order to be able to formulate, through his pieces, historical and philosophical references which are often abstract.

MARIA BARTUSZOVÁ Maria Bartuszová, Perforated Torso, 1986 6 April - 14 May, 2016

The works of Maria Bartuszová - sculptures created by using rubberized materials and plaster to form unique casts, or by using water and plaster to minimize gravity - trigger extraordinary and moving impressions. These biomorphic sculptures, in which branches sometimes pass through plaster, are striking in their beauty, their seeming perfection, even, and also, in their vulnerability, precariousness, and fragility.
