WINDscale 2007

In this work an anemometer constantly measures the speed of the wind, this data is then used to control the frame rate and pixellation pattern of a video of the anemometer. The work has 13 discreet levels of interference based on The Beaufort Windscale which is a visual way of estimating windspeed based on how the sea looks.

The video is output locally as a live video, it is also broadcast online as a time-lapse video from the last 24hours and is available to download as a dynamic desktop screensaver which updates live through out the day. www.windscale.net

The work will be installed at Jaywick Martello Tower, Island6 Shanghai, Southampton & Hackney Wick

1440 Frames 2007

1140 Frames uses a computer-controlled apparatus to capture a series of 1440 images at a rate of one per minute over a period of 24 hours. Each minute, the camera will also rotate 1440th of a revolution so enabling it to rotate through 360 degrees over the 24 hour period.

The captured images are then complied into a digital video that will describe a 360 degree panorama of the Hallway at the Foundling Museum as recorded over the last 24 hour period. The video will play at a rate of 24 frames per second giving it the duration of exactly one minute. During that minute, the apparatus will have rotated 1440th of a revolution, captured another frame and updated the video.

The video will be constantly updated every minute; the first frame is erased and a new one added to the end.
KITESOUND 2006

KiteSound used a mechanical apparatus to amplify the vibrations of a kite string to create an audible sound.

The recorded sound track forms the basis for this video work one screen shows the apparatus making the sound the other is a projection of the kite who's frame rate is controlled by the volume levels of the sound
