In 2001, I founded a fictitious company named Salariat Appliance Technologies Research (SATResearch) under whose auspices I manufacture interactive sculptures/appliances, produce their �portraits�, and publish pseudoscientific marketing materials which support their claims of life-altering results. For example, the �Kariz-matic� increases and maintains one's charisma over a period of months � a recently published fold-out advertisement presents a before-and-after case of a young freelance film projectionist who, through the daily use of the Kariz-matic, became a state senator in the span of a single year.(!)When I moved to New York in the summer of 2001, I was without a physical studio space for over a year and I adapted by designing my

appliances with a 3-D computer program to create digital �paintings� featuring the SATResearch appliances. I have also recently begun experimenting with using computers to �cast� the physical appliances with special machinery. These works that blur the boundaries between art, science, industry, and public culture, together with printed matter such as pseudoscientific �studies� and
