A compressed account of the impermanence of memories. The act of forgetting is transposed to the skin as I walk the streets of the lower east side until the word past, embossed on my arm, fades away. The jarring rhythm of stop motion exaggerates the interaction between the slower tempo of changing memories and the relentless acquisition of new information that makes up the present. The gradual smoothing and eventual fading of impressions, an intimate and intangible process, is rendered concrete.

A playful commentary on the futility of vanity, the mysterious workings of our bodies and the behavior of black holes, flick perseveres in the pointless task of ridding a body of its imperfections.

Working with animation engenders a singular relationship to time. The experience of it becomes more tactile and non-linear. Time�s discrete units�frames�can be reordered and manipulated creating a completely artificial event, even if with actual materials in real locations. The uncanny effectiveness of the technique, despite its simplicity, points to the limitations of our senses and the myriad information and activities that lie just beyond them.














A meditation on longing, longday superimposes an element reminiscent of water onto a bustling city view as night falls. It reveals the desire to flood the urban clamor with the nostalgic ocean of my native Brazil softening the alienation of a foreigner in NY.
