BRIEF BIO>
Born in 1965 in Mexico City, my interest in aesthetics and composition sparked here and there during childhood and adolescence. My commitment to the production of art and non-functional objects, heavily influence by an abstract mathematical perspective, develop during my undergraduate studies in Industrial Design at the Universidad Autnoma Metropolitana in Mexico. In 1993, with a Fulbright scholarship I pursued a Masters in Fine Arts, Fiber Arts, at the Savannah College of Art and Design where I was recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. There, my creative process mutated from a detailedtime consumingtextile constructions (weaving tapestries) into an immediate expressive act of mixed media acrylic paintings. After graduation I returned to Mexico where I continued my professional career as a designer, educator and assemblage artist.

In 1999 I was awarded with a second Fulbright scholarship to pursue doctoral studies in Art and Art Education at Columbia University, in New York City. The research of my doctoral investigation dwells into the art practices intrinsic processesapart form verbal structures of meaning and interpretationthat implemented into education and knowledge strategies foster initiative in creative cycles, self motivation, and evolving exploration based on repetition and individual trajectories characteristic of the local context. The exploration of what lies beyond the explanation of ones work has evolved across mediumsfibers-painting-assemblage-drawing-sculpture-video-oil paintingand currently resides in mixed media works in an attempt to differentiate the predetermined making and the emergent doing embedded in the decision making of the creative process.

As of November of 2006 I have relocated to Cabo San Lucas, Mxico to establish an open studio gallery, arteBunker. There, my visual explorations are generated and integrated from, and with, the local knowledge/expectations, and the artistic visions.

I have been exhibiting since 1985 with eight solo shows in the United States and Mexico; 47 group exhibitions in North America, Europe and Japan. I also have curated seventeen exhibitions ranging from traditional mediums, thematic work, interactive multimedia art, conceptual work and the re-presentation of archival material.
