Story Caf
I put up a caf called Story Caf in five different cities, in London (2004) during a residency in Artsadmin,in Limerick, Ireland (2006) as part of the ev+a, Limerick Biennale, in Helsinki, Finland (2006) in an artist-run gallery, Gallia Huuto, in Tallinn, Estonia (2007), as part of the Young Artists' Biennale and in Moscow Museum Night 2008. My idea was to offer visitors a cup of coffee in exchange for a story. The motto was Tell a Story Get a Coffee. I recorded the stories on video.
I look for similarities and differences in the story-telling techniques and in conventions that people use and make them visible through editing the material. The last part of the process includes writing scripts and staging some of the stories. I have made one film, Tomorrow (2007) based on a story recorded in Story Caf.
