Multi-award winning Irish Artist Simon McWilliams brings his unique perspective on the urban landscape to the heart of Culver City's art district with an exhibition of his new paintings.
Scott Yorko writing in Santa Fean Magazine described the work as, "Balancing structural chaos with sound colour harmonies, McWilliams brings us into a symbiotic partnership with his imagined big city surroundings, a healthy antidote to the real world sensation of being loose pieces scurrying around a maze of concrete buildings".

About Skotia Gallery: Skotia Gallery is a contemporary Art Gallery in the heart of Culver City Arts District.
Skotia Gallery first opened it's doors in The Santa Fe Downtown gallery district in 2008, making a huge impact on the city's contemporary art scene. Departing from Santa Fe's reputation for regional southwest art, Skotia Gallery focused on artists from around the globe. About Simon McWilliams: Simon McWilliams(1970) Studied painting at the Royal Academy Schools in London,he has received almost 30 awards for his paintings in the last 20 years including the Guinness Award at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London, a Major Award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Perpetual Gold Medal and Silver Medals from the Royal Ulster Academy. This is his 7th Solo Show and 2nd in the USA with Skotia Gallery.

Multi-award winning Irish Artist Simon McWilliams brings his unique perspective on the urban landscape to the heart of Culver City's art district with an exhibition of his new paintings.
McWilliams takes his observations of the city around him and filters them through his bold, painterly imagination. What he delivers is a fictional developing city, housing mysterious forms cloaked with impasto paint, reminiscent of Christo’s wrapped buildings. Not a drab concrete city but a new optimistic metropolis, resplendent in abundant, tactile colours, promising, “a glorious morrow”
Sound drawing and painterliness combine to produce a unique vision that is part fact and part fantasy. Dust clouds created by ant-like workers on vast scaffolds, glitter in the sunlight taking on ghostly appearances.
