Lancasters practice combines techniques from the world of film special effects, Foley sound, model making, theatre effects, photography and painting in order to examine the interplay between reality and illusion
At a time when digital media has a prevalent role in image making Lancaster examines how this can combine with lo-fi techniques and handmade effects to investigate the sense of wonder and mystery that can be created through the simple, economic manipulation of readily available household materials.

Alongside her art practice Lancaster is a musician and performer. She has been a member of numerous bands and musical projects. She plays guitar and bass in several bands; including Silver Fox and BIG FAIL and was a former member of Gravenhurst, signed to Warp records. She also regularly performs experimental solo guitar based material under her own name. Silver Fox recently released their eponymous debut album on Upset The Rhythm Records, London. Lancaster has also collaborated with various live acts, including Basic House, creating visuals for their live shows.
