ABOUT
100 Survivors is a collaborative, web-based photo and video project for women currently in treatment for breast cancer or diagnosed in the past three years. Shooting from a list of 12 tags, participants share photos, videos, and stories.

By featuring up to 100 women and their work, 100 Survivors hopes to inform and inspire by looking beyond "awareness" and "supporting the cause" and focusing on the experiences of actual women with breast cancer. Unique perspectives on breast cancer and identity are welcome and encouraged.

The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation is pleased to announce its second annual Emerging Curator Open Call. The Emerging Curator Program offers an opportunity for a young-in-career curator to present a group show at the NARS Foundation Gallery. The aim of the program is to encourage new dialogue and to create a platform for artists and curators to experiment and exchange ideas. The curator is provided with exhibition space and administrative support to present innovative ideas and artworks in a unique gallery surrounded by an artist community and studios.

The Hannah Arendt Prize in Critical Theory and Creative Research is an annual prize competition for anyone interested in the juncture of art and creative research and in the principles at the heart of the arts and humanities, including sense-based intelligence; the reality of singular, nonrepeatable phenomena; ethical vision; and consilience between inner and outer, nature and reason, thought and experience, subject and object, self and world.

Explication of theme: Whether rice infused with human DNA, new forms of warfare, fully playable nanoguitars, bots traversing blood streams, or transistors the size of viruses, the major developments of the 21st century are largely invisible and, as such, resistant to critique and intervention—what we call politics as a system of challenge, contestation, and negotiation. How do we force invisible processes into visibility, and what do we do with them once they appear at this threshold? Conversely, what are the means by which the visible might be made to disappear? Are these the right questions?

About the MA in Critical Theory and Creative Research
The MA in Critical Theory and Creative Research (CT+CR), the first of its kind in the U.S., is an accelerated, 45-credit, seminar-based program (one year + summer intensive) that prepares students for opportunities at the intersection of art, theory, and research. Located in the metropolitan heart of the Pacific Northwest, a center of creative risk-taking and social experimentation, the program combines the study of critical theory as a mode of socio-political critique and creative research as a process-driven form of inquiry, pushing both theory and research in new directions within the context of a 21st-century art school. The program is devoted to people and ideas and to a rethinking of the present and future of cultural production; of arts-based research and research-based arts; of curatorial practice, documentary, and the Archive; and of social and political reconfiguration in relation to major sites of contemporary contestation. About PNCA
Founded in 1909 and located in an award-winning campus in the heart of Portland, Oregon, PNCA is one of a handful of West Coast institutions accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design offering BFA and MFA degrees. PNCA offers five Master's programs—the joint Master of Fine Arts in Applied Craft and Design with Oregon College of Art and Craft, the Master of Fine Arts in Collaborative Design, the Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies, the Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies, and the Master of Arts in Critical Theory and Creative Research. Summer Exhibition 2011 Royal Academy of Arts, London

Following long Academy tradition, the exhibition is curated by an annually rotating committee of Royal Academicians who are all practicing artists and architects. Any artist may enter work for selection - over 12,000 works are submitted for consideration every year and around 1200 are exhibited. The Academy works hard to encourage a diverse range of artists to enter and, as a result, well over 100 artists are included every year who have not previously exhibited in the Summer Exhibition.

The show provides an unrivalled opportunity for exhibitors to sell their work and have it seen by the 200,000 visitors that the exhibition draws during its three-month run; all artists are strongly encouraged to enter work that is available for sale. The Academy is unique among major international art institutions in that it is governed by eminent artists and architects, and receives no government funding. The commission on sales supports its diverse programme of exhibitions and the Royal Academy Schools.

THE MFA CREATIVE PRACTICE is a two year low-residency program where students and faculty come together for three weeks each summer to participate in workshops, lectures, critiques, seminars, performances and exhibitions. TRANSART FACULTY come from a wide range of academic and artistic backgrounds as well as geographic locations. TRANSART STUDENTS are emerging and mid-career artists and educators. Transart Institute’s residencies are a meeting place for cultural exchange. Transart students and alumni will converge for the summer residency from areas as diverse as Italy, Egypt, Pakistan, Iceland, Croatia, Ethiopia, Canada, Costa Rica, the UK and the US. For many students the time at Transart is a transformational experience. New York based artist Virgil Wong found “The community I’ve become a part of through Transart is already much more immersive than what I’ve developed in ten years of living and working as an artist in New York City”. Photographer and performer Angelika Rinnhofer found that “to work independently can pose a challenge but it also offers freedom and flexibility. THE TRANSART COLLECTIVE is an informal, decentralized network of Transart alumni, students, and faculty. Transartists come together from all points on the globe for discussion, exchange, and independently-driven projects with others in the international Transart community. EFTI School of Photography and Image Centre announces its 10th Roberto Villagraz scholarship of Photography, aiming to award three photographers with a scholarship that will enable them to develop their professional career through the study of EFTI International Master of Photography at the school free of charge (The cost of the course for this edition [2012-13] is 8.690 €)

Each of the awarded students will receive a monetary prize of 1,200€ as well.

Under no circumstances will the prize be changed for cash.
There is no application fee.
No prize will remain unawarded.

APPLICANTS

Participation is open to anybody between 18 and 39 years of age (on the final submittal date), regardless of their nationality and academic history.
Winners must attend the course in any of its two next editions, starting in September 2012 or January 2013. The duration of the course is one year.

REQUIREMENTS TO DELIVER THE PROJECTS

Each applicant must present one single series of photographs consisting of 6 to 12 photos that must have a common theme, along with a text that summarizes the project. The photographic technique and the theme are open.
All photographs must be labelled with the name of the applicant and numbered according to their position in the series. E.g: Paul Smith 001

Applications will be sent trough our web site, completing the registration form along with the following documentation:
-Photocopy of Identity Card or Passport in jpg format.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- Brief description of the project.
- 6 up to 12 images in jpg format. These must have a maximum of 1.000 pixels on their largest side. Any resolution is accepted. The final .zip file, photographs included, can be no bigger than 3 Mb.

APPENDIX

The winners of the Scholarships will sign an agreement with EFTI, committing themselves to completion of the entire Masters course (one academic year).
Participation involves full acceptance of the above conditions. The committee reserves their right to make decisions on any unforeseen circumstances not covered by the conditions outlined above.
Failure to comply with the above rules, or lack of required documentation will result in the applicant’s exclusion from the contest.

Video Art Festival Miden invites all video artists and video creators to participate in this year’s events, which will take place, like the past years, in public spaces at the Historic Centre of the city of Kalamata, Greece, in July 2012.

The proposed video can be of any genre (video art, experimental video, animation, short movie etc.). Duration under 10 min.

The INPHA 1 book will be released to the public In conjunction with FotoFocus*, a city-wide month-long 50+ venue celebration of the photographic arts to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio (and surrounding region) in October 2012. INPHA will become the third in a suite of annual Manifest books charting contemporary art around the world. It joins the International Painting Annual and award winning International Drawing Annual as an important new product of Manifest Press. This project represents a further expression of Manifest's unique process for assembling diverse and compelling multi-national projects, as well as its commitment to a wide variety of methods for visual creative expression. Upon its release INPHA 1 will be the tenth such major volume in the Manifest Press library. It will be formatted to complement the INDA and INPA series, and is expected to weigh in at approximately 200 pages fu ll color. Manifest is excited to announce a major new program to join our already robust Gallery, Drawing Center, and Press activities. The MAR will become the fourth leg of our core programming, expanding how the Cincinnati-based non-profit organization serves artists engaged in creative research, and the general public engaged in cultural exposure. The MAR award will leverage opportunities for synergy between contemporary art exhibition and studio work under the same roof.

Artists are invited to submit complete applications to the new Manifest Artist Residency program (MAR). Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis. One artist will be selected as the recipient of the MAR award which consists of the following:

Free 24/7 use of a private studio consisting of approximately five hundred square feet of studio and display space (two north-lit rooms and a hallway) for a period of one year (including nominal utilities). (The studio is not intended for use as a residence.)

Free Drawing League Membership at Manifest Drawing Center which provides access to approximately 250 hours of life drawing sessions through weekly Open Figure and quarterly Drawing Marathon offerings.

The artist will be given the consideration for teaching courses in our Drawing Center studio program, for pay, during the course of the residency. This will be contingent upon suitability and qualifications, as well as course enrollment, and will be determined by the Director of the Drawing Center.

Regular public exposure of artwork and studio during Manifest exhibit receptions to over 1500 members of the public (9 events across the year).

The opportunity to submit to any and all of Manifest’s calls for entry for which the artist is eligible, including solo show proposals, with the entry fees waived for all submissions. Works submitted by the artist will still be juried through the blind jury committee process used for all Manifest projects.

The program is open for application by any serious emerging or established artist, including recent graduates from college art programs.

The ideal candidate for the award of the program may be working in any media or genre.

The residency studio is adjacent to Manifest Gallery in historic East Walnut Hills (Cincinnati, Ohio) sharing a common hallway in the same building. The studio consists of two north-lit rooms on the ground floor and a semi-private hallway usable for display. The residency space totals approximately 500 square feet.

The Foam Talent Call is internationally the most important competition for young photographers. The sixth edition of Foam Talent Call opened on 30 January and this year photographers can submit their work via Facebook.

The Foam Talent issue is designed to showcase young photographers from all over the world. It is a career building platform, launching aspiring talents into the international photography industry, giving them international acclaim and recognition. A few examples of well known photographers who were showcased in the Foam Talent issue are: Mayumi Hosokura from issue #28, Benjamin Lowy from issue #24, Alexander Gronsky and Anouk Kruithof from issue #20, and Curis Mann and Pieter Hugo from issue #16.

With over 800 submissions last year, we are excited to see how many we receive this year via Facebook. It is not necessary to have a Facebook account to enter the call. Submission requirements
The Call is open to all photographers aged between 18-35 across the globe. The entrance fee is 35 euros and the competition is fierce, but 15 selected talents will receive an eight page portfolio showcasing their series along with an interview by an esteemed writer. The editorial board will choose the portfolios according to the creative vision and concept of the series presented, amongst other criteria.
