Experience as infinite differences a presentation of the honoursprogram Gerrit Rietveld academie and the University of Amsterdam UvA You are invited to experience an exhibition that greatly attempts to not be understood as art. As Problematic as this may sound, rest assured, for it is problematic! You will experience what you have pre-conceived! Inspired by the WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get), you are confronted with an assemblage, a happy mesh of Artistic Research. Conceived after a year of co-operation, experiment, and research conducted by students of the University of Amsterdam and students of the Rietveld Art Academy Amsterdam. The show at Ellen de Bruijne Projects is but a disquieting tease of their 'results'. It is an attempt to challenge the very confines of pre-conceived experience, as well as preconfigured regimes of (aesthetic) response to politically correct vocabularies of expression. For the students, the project (Honoursprogram) became a challenge to fight against the idea that has branded experience as suspicious by the dominant voices within their multidisciplinary domains, (academic as well as artistic). It is a challenge to correct the image of suspicion that has been eternally glued to the idea of change and emancipation. It plays with the suffocating concept of the eternal yardstick, that rules over every possible domain, the exhibition tries to recruit the infinite differences to shape and inform the learning eye to overcome the poverty of experience.
