Chung King Project is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Philipino artist Rommelo Yu (born 1979 in Manilla). Raised in the United States, and now a long-time resident of Berlin, Rommelo will present a large scale sculptural exploration of the legacy of Sol Lewitt. By inserting personal culture and history (albeit abstracted) through the selection of materials, and the inclusion of a ritual to the universalized forms prevalent in minimalist and conceptual practice, Rommelo shifts the discourse from the universal to the personal, from the intellectual to the interactive. Rommelo Yu past exhibitions include a solo at PS1 Project Space, New York; and various group exhibitions in public and private spaces in Berlin. |
