Davide La Rocca - STILLS May 27, 2011 - Jul 16, 2011 From May 27, 2011 on, Galerie Voss will show new works by Davide La Rocca. Having excusively used film stills from David Cronenberg�s movie �Existenz� as motifs for his works until now, he now extends his oeuvre by using new motifs as well as new techniques. In the new "STILLS"-series of paintings the central theme is the film by Andrew Niccol, "GATTACA". Alongside his known paintings in different shades of gray, that are calculated by the computer and applied on the canvas point by point just like pixels on the screen, the exhibition �STILLS� will show works, that are quite related to the principle of Op Art. Those works are consequently painted in black on white or white on black and combine abstract, optical paintings with portraits of people in everyday situations. The exhibition will end on July 16, 2011. |
