The Golden Thread Gallery is delighted to invite you to the launch of two groundbreaking exhibitions on Thursday 28th April between 6pm and 8pm. These exhibitions bring our outreach programme under the spotlight, as we set out to explore the World of Work and the city that we live in through collaboration with our partners in the wider community. In Gallery One we have WoW: World of Work: a collaborative multi-media extravaganza hatched by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, the Golden Thread Gallery and the Northern Ireland Union Learning Fund to explore the changing nature of work from the perspective of three generations of workers. Simultaneously in Gallery Two we have INTERCHANGE: Sharing the Urban Agenda which responds to a major new road project planned to connect the Westlink to the M2 and M3 at York Street. The Forum for Alternative Belfast working with the North Belfast Interface Network, the Lower Shankill Community Association, Draw Down the Walls, the Practice & Participation of Rights Project and Belfast Conflict Resolution Consortium present INTERCHANGE: the potential threat and impact of the proposals but also the possibilities. Both exhibitions will also act as a backdrop to a series of talks and events aimed at encouraging further participation and collaborative imaginings. These include: Collaborate for Change: A new way of working 2pm, Sat 7 May 2011 A History of Segregated Living Micky Liggett 1pm Thurs 12 May 2011 Shared Space: New Perspectives - Forum for Alternative Belfast + John OFarrell (ICTU) 1pm Thurs 19 May 2011 We hope that you will be able to join with us to celebrate the launch of these two unique exhibitions and enjoy this great opportunity to meet the artists who have made it all happen. |
