Campaa Berlin Axel Springer Str. 43 10969 Berlin
Gallery Luis Campaa is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Berlin of New York based artist Daniel Lefcourt.
The five artworks in the exhibition are the result of a semi-automated process. A computer-controlled wood router (typical of the sign-making industry) is used to etch lines into the surface of standardized industrial sheets of composite wood. The artworks are titled after a setting on the router called Plot Fill. The small router bit travels back and forth across the 4 x 8 foot boards until the surface has been filled or carved away.
Daniel Lefcourt lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He received his MFA from Columbia University in 2005. Concurrent with this exhibition is a solo exhibition at Sutton Lane, London. His work will also be included in a group exhibition at Gallery Lelong, New York opening June 25th. He has had solo exhibitions at Sutton Lane, Paris (2007), Galerie Mitterand + Sanz, Zurich (2007), Taxter and Spengemann in New York (2006). Lefcourt's work has been featured in numerous group shows including "Subject Index" at Malmo Kunstmuseum (2008), "The Gold Standard" (2006) and "Greater New York" (2000) at Museum of Modern Art P.S.1 and "Do You Like Stuff?" at Swiss Institute in New York (2005).
