GUILLAUME LINARD-OSORIO
SOLO SHOW

24 MAY - 21 JUNE 2008

Aged only 29, Guillaume Linard-Osorio is already a prolific artist and has exhibited in important places as the Centre Pompidou, in Paris, the international biennale in St Etienne for example. Through a neverending stream of ideas flowing from his brain, the artist gives life to the many daily disruption

For his first solo show at the Magda Danysz gallery, Guillaume Linard-Osorio has prepared a series of works produced for the occasion. All the works presented speak about the reality that from times to times cracks up, has double meanings, a conceptual double bottom, creating a permanent doubt.

Talented and insatiable, Guillaume Linard-Osotio has pursued studies in various fields as architecture, design and applied arts. Thanks to this education he has developped a rich artistic world, always the exact opposite of what we would excpect it to be. He is always aiming at laughters and serious thoughts from the viewers.

Guillaume Linard-Osorio's work is about how our daily culture dysfunction, about this moment when things aren't anymore under the control of their natural function. He breaks, compresses, melts things creating a certain chaos leading to new, unexpected forms. "Generally speaking, objects attract me for the narrative potential they have. If an object has a specific history, I believe it can tell us one or a few more."

Guillaume Linard-Osorio looks inside things, especially if these things exist for their surface, for what they appear to be. He is fascinated by the decorum, for it has a mechanism that leads to something else than what it shows, all those details that can not be revealed unless you want to break the magic. "All this stuff fascinates me more than the facade. Thus I frequently break the things I work with, leading to a certain dislocation, a set back so there is a dubtious balance."
