Marc Jancou Contemporary, Geneva, is pleased to present John Miller and Richard Hoeck emblematic Hard Hat, 1999 and the debut of Soft Hard Hat, 2016 in conjuction with the film Mannequin Death, 2015.

John Miller and Richard Hoeck’s 1999 creation of Hard Hat with JPR Ringier edition was inspired by the iconic 1960s TV character and show, Bonanza! The hat, already phallic in nature, is overemphatically pink and stiff. Rejoining the subject nearly 20 years later, Hard Hat emerges as Soft Hard Hat, 2016. Today’s hat, representational of time passed and gravity’s demand is now, soft.

Soft Hard Hat, 2016 is in a limited edition of 12 and produced by Marc Jancou Editions.

John Miller and Richard Hoeck share two decades of collaborations including exhibitions at the Kunshalle Wein, Vienna and at KW/Kunstwerke Berlin as well as numerous important shows in Europe and the United States. A major retrospective on John Miller is currently underway at The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.The monograph, More Alive Than Those Who Made Them retraces the duo’s collaborations, published by WhiteWalls, 2015.

Hard Hat / Soft Hard Hat & Mannequicn Death will be on continuous view from our window at rue des Bains 63 - 1205, Geneva.
