GALERIE NAGEL DRAXLER
Christian Nagel gallery was founded in Cologne in 1990. At the beginning of 2009, Saskia Draxler and Christian Nagel joined as gallery partners. At the beginning of 2013 we changed our name to Nagel Draxler.

The opening exhibition in Cologne was also Cosima von Bonin’s first solo show. In the course of a strong orientation towards the new institutional critique of the 90s we welcomed Michael Krebber, Joseph Zehrer, Christian Philipp Müller, Andrea Fraser, Hans-Jörg Mayer, Heimo Zobernig, Mark Dion, Renée Green, Clegg & Guttmann, Stephan Dillemuth, Kai Althoff, Josephine Pryde, Merlin Carpenter, Catherine Sullivan and John Miller. With Martha Rosler we represent one of today’s most important political artists. Her groundbreaking feminist positions reach back to the 1960s. So do, coming from a social-urbanist context, the artistic models of Stephan Willats.

After the 2002 opening of the new space at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin we began to show a younger generation of artists including Stephanie Taylor, Kalin Lindena, Stefan Müller, Cornelius Quabeck, Jan Timme, Nairy Baghramian Lutz Braun, Sven Johne, Rachel Harrison, Sterling Ruby and Michael Beutler. Kiron Khosla, Gang Zhao and Kader Attia are artists of bilateral heritage who reflect on canonized Western positions from a transcultural perspective. Finally with Hanna Schwarz, Julia Horstmann, Mirjam Thomann, Lone Haugaard Madsen, Keren Cytter, Dominik Sittig, Xavier Mary and Julia Haller our gallery program was enriched with important young artists of the present.

In May 2010 we temporarily opened a space in the city of Antwerp, an important location in the history of avantgarde art. Since 2011 we represent the Belgian artist Joëlle Tuerlinckx, who in her intense process oriented installational works follows up this rich tradition. Also thanks to our presence in Belgium we started to work with Guillaume Bijl, Ives Maes and Daniel Dos Santos.

In the wide field of contemporary art we see it as important to recognise and support the next generation. In our projectspace REISEBÜROGALERIE, located inside the travel agency ‘Diko Reisen’ in Cologne, we show young artists who made an impression on us and who are at the very beginning of their careers.
