Current themes in the work include silence, slowness, the act of non arrival, and the introduced. Through the use of technology in particular video I intend to arrest and slow down what is often overlooked or discarded.

When Time Slides by Slowly - a solo show by the artist resulted from a 3 month residency at Tylee Cottage in Whanganui in New Zealand 2010.
Works included Candy Twitcher, a bird hide made from recyled timber, Peekaboo, a two screened video monitor work and This Kind of Silence a large two screened projection work.

The viewer enters, lifting the flap to reveal what is adjacent. Setting up a flaux bird watching senario where the head of the bird osolates within the screen adjacent to the hide uttering the odd phrase to be decifered by the passing viewer. Made from recycled timber reminisent of interior kitchens found in New Zealand in the 60s this hide becomes both a hiding place and a viewing platform within the gallery to experience the work.

The mynah birds that frequent the garden of Tylee Cottage inspired the work Peekaboo. Initially filming at the cottage but subsequently at a local bird rescue sanctuary the captured bird named Trouble became the focus of the work. Peekaboo allows us to see the back and front views of Troubles head, where the bird entrapped in double captivity, firstly in the sanctuary and secondly entombed in the technology of video and the monitors. Two phrases peekaboo and whats ya doing interupt the pulsating image intermittently.
