Christina McPhee is an artist working in drawing, video and soundscape, photomontage, and writing. Her drawings involve linear, fugue-like structures that become topologic fields. Her film work concerns landscapes of environmental crisis at the littoral edge. She lives and works in the central coast of California.
Recent exhibitions and screenings include "La Conchita Paradise" at the FIAC Paris Cinéphèmère in the Tuileries (October 2010); Issue Project Room (September 2010) ; Silent City, London (May 2010), Directors Lounge, Berlin (February 2010).
Exhibitions include “Tesserae of Venus” at Silverman Gallery, San Francisco (2009); Carrizo-Parkfield Diaries at the American University Museum, Washington, DC: Documenta 12, Kassel, 2007; Bucharest Biennial 3 (BB3), 2008.
Her new media works are in the collections of the Thresholds New Media Collection, Scotland; Whitney (Artport), Rhizome at the New Museum (Artbase), New York; Rose Goldsen Archive of New Media Art, Cornell; Experimental Television Center and Turbulence, New York. Corporate collections include a major commission for Barclays Bank, including over 300 photomontages based on 350 years of bank archival records. Private collections of her drawings, photomontage, and prints are in Dusseldorf, London, New York, Kuala Lumpur, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
Her curatorial project "Pharmakon Library" recently premiered at the New York Art Book Fair.
