Solo Show Award, CoLAB Projects, New Orleans

CoLAB Projects (formerly BECA gallery) is presenting a solo-show award exhibition. One artist will receive a solo exhibition from November 7- 28 2009 at CoLAB Projects, a beautifully renovated 1,000 square foot warehouse located at 527 St. Joseph Street, New Orleans, LA across from the Contemporary Arts Center in the heart of the New Orleans Warehouse Arts District. Gallery photos may be viewed at http://www.colabprojects.com/mbr_bio.php The purpose of the CoLAB Projects solo show award exhibition is to provide CoLAB gallery directors, curators and collectors an opportunity to discover new, compelling works created by artists who have not yet received a solo show exhibition opportunity with CoLAB Projects. The artist selected for this CoLAB Projects solo show will be considered for future representation. Submitted works are not required to conform to any particular medium, style or concept. Gallery directors are not looking for a particular type of work or theme. Work shown at CoLAB Projects is diverse and all artists from all countries are encouraged to submit their works for consideration according to the guidelines listed below.
ELIGIBILITY: This call is open to all artists at least 18 years of age from any country. Accepted works and mediums include but are not limited to: painting, sculpture, mixed-media, drawing, printmaking, fiber, textiles, installation, digital art, photography, video, 3D animation, design and functional art. Individual works may have a maximum weight of 75 pounds. There are no size restrictions for individual works. All works submitted for review must be original works created by the artist. Work must be from a recent (within the past 2 years), cohesive body of work and works must be the actual works you are proposing to exhibit should you be awarded the solo exhibition. We cannot accept submissions of concept drawings or proposals for future works not yet created.
GUIDELINES + SUBMISSION RECEIVE DEADLINE: Images of artwork being submitted for consideration must be in .jpg format sized at 10 inches in either height or width at 72dpi. If submitting a physical CD/DVD, please label it with your name, contact phone and email. Video submissions should be limited in duration to 1 minute each work for a total of 10 minutes. All submissions must be completed/received according to the guidelines below by 8pm, US CST on September 10, 2009. No materials or emails containing submission materials will be accepted after this date/time. Submissions will be accepted via email according to the guidelines listed below or via postal mail or commercial carrier such as UPS, Fed Ex, etc. (with no signature required). No in-person delivery or late submissions can be accepted.
FEES + SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: For this Call to Artists you are required to submit 10 works (no more, no less) for review along with an artist statement as it pertains to the work you are submitting. The submission fee is $35.00. (For 3-D works, you may include 1 additional detail or alternative view image per work submitted at no additional charge.) Incomplete submissions cannot be accepted and submission fees are non-refundable. Fee payment should be made by check or money order in US funds drawn on a US bank or US Post Office payable to 'BECA gallery' and included with your submission.
