Curator Position at The Studio Museum in Harlem
An Assistant/Associate Curator executes all aspects of exhibition development and implementation at the highest professional standards, including research, writing, presentations, budgeting, coordination, etc.
Develops the collection, plans and executes both temporary exhibitions and collection-based exhibitions and projects, and organizes related programs with a special emphasis on art by artists of African descent.
Responsibilities:
• Writes, edits, and assists in the production of exhibition and educational publications.
• Works with the Chief Curator and the Director of Special Projects to organize Acquisition Committee and museum affiliate groups, contributing programming ideas with the aim to grow membership.
• Performs exhibition support functions and manages dispersal of exhibitions.
• Works with the Registrar and Exhibitions Manager on the maintenance of the collection and loans related to contemporary art, and expedites arrangements for custodial, etc.
