Salon Art Prize 2012 – Call for applications

Matt Roberts Arts is currently seeking applications for the sixth annual Salon Art Prize exhibition, which will take place from 12th October - 3rd November 2012.
The Salon Art Prize welcomes applications from practitioners working with painting, photography, sculpture & installation, and 2-D practices (collage, drawing, printmaking etc.). We will offer the panel the opportunity to select up to 100 practitioners and an overall prize fund of £10,500.
This year’s Selectors:
Gavin Delahunty (Head of Exhibitions and Displays, TATE Liverpool)
Godfrey Wordsdale (Director, BALTIC centre for contemporary art)
Anthony Spira (Director, Milton Keynes gallery)
Susanna Brown (Curator, Photographs, Victoria & Albert Museum)
The competition is open to all artists including university graduates, current students, and untrained professionals. International applications are welcomed and there is no limit on the age of work submitted.
Prize Fund
£500 2-D category winner
£500 Sculpture category winner
£500 Photography category winner
£1000, £500 of artists’ surfaces support and a solo exhibition for the Painting Category winner
(supported by John Jones)
£8000 to be awarded to one overall winner, selected from the four category winners.

All Salon Art Prize applicants must be registered as an Associate Member of Matt Roberts Arts. Membership costs £10 (GBP) and lasts for up to 12 months. Membership contributions support the administration of the prize and our ongoing professional development services for artists.

The winner of the Painting Category will receive a £1000 cash prize from John Jones, £500 of artist surfaces materials, and a solo exhibition at the John Jones gallery space. John Jones intends to offer support for the painting prize winner’s artistic practice and encourage the development of their career. Previous winners include Helen Kincaid, Tim Bailey and Julie Cockburn.
