Overview
Our top priority is to fund USA artists who are working in leadership roles, in active partnership with communities, in ways that are relevant in everyday life, at ambitious scale, to enact social change.
We also offer project support to arts organizations that enable ambitious relevant socially engaged art projects by placing artists in leaderships roles and building active and sustainable community partnerships.
With all our grants and fellowships, we prioritize initiatives that happen outside traditional art contexts by actively engaging communities in a meaningful way.
ABOG Fellowship for Socially Engaged Art
A one-year fellowship for individual artists and collectives. Fellowships pair project support of $20,000 with strategic support, assessment tools, video documentation, access to facilities and other tailored resources for socially engaged artists. We support seven-ten artists or collectives per year, who are selected via an open application process.

Organizational Project Grants
Organizational Project Grants of $20,000 each are awarded in support of socially engaged art projects that bring participants into dialogue with the artist(s), embrace audiences beyond the art community, and aim to promote social change.

ABOG Distinguished Artist Fellowships
ABOG Distinguished Artist Fellowships are awarded to a select number of artists per year who are realizing socially engaged art projects of ambitious scale. Fellowships pair project support of $50,000 per year for up to three years, with a wide range of services tailored to the project, including strategic support, assessment tools, documentation and other tailored resources for socially engaged artists.
Distinguished Fellows are selected by nomination only.
