ARTISTS' MOVING IMAGE CALL - UK + Int. Touring
Deadline: FEB 8th, 2016
Submission fee: £10 per work

Sheffield Fringe is an artist-led curatorial project initiated to explore the intersection of art & documentary practices, through screenings, talks, exhibitions and research. Our curatorial interest centres on works that are firmly rooted within fine art practice yet tentatively linked to the documentary tradition. We hope to invite conversations on the role of art and conceptual approaches in documentary practice.
Sheffield Fringe is held biennially to coincide with Sheffield Doc/Fest, creating a complimentary space & context to encourage creative collaborations between the contemporary art and documentary communities. It is otherwise a project with no fixed abode, with screenings/exhibitions throughout the year.
We are now open for artists’ moving image submissions for our 2016 edition, starting at Bloc Projects gallery, Sheffield, in June 2016, with a touring schedule to follow.
We are interested in single-channel works that inspire dialogues, and/or are playful critiques of the documentary form, performance and spectatorship. Please send artists' film and videos, experimental works, and artist-made documentaries.
Guidelines:
There are no restrictions in theme or approach.
Individual works must not exceed 20 min. in total running time.
Exhibition/screening copies must be available as H264 Quicktime data.
Submitted works must be available for preview online.
