The MARMITE PRIZE FOR PAINTING

The MARMIT E PRIZE FOR PAINT ING is the most erratic, challenging and nomadic biennial open submission painting exhibition in Britain.
The 2008 prize will be judged by a distinguished panel of judges:
Michele Fletcher [artist and 2006 Marmite Prize Winner]
Liz Neal [artist]
Milly Thompson [artist, and ex-member of BANK]
Ms AN Other [critic]
There will be one winner and two runners up.
Along with the prestige of being a Prize Winner in the second Marmite Prize for Painting and the opportunity to be a judge at the Marmite Prize For Painting 2010, the winner will also receive a specially commissioned Marmite sculpture by an artist tba. The runners up will receive a pat on the back.

To Enter
The MARMITE PRIZE FOR PAINTING is open to all. We will accept entries by post or e-mail.
To enter you will need to complete the application form which you can download at www.marmiteprize.org. You must provide two images (j-peg on disk mac compatible orattached to e-mail 300dpi).
There is an entrance fee of £10. We will require entry fee through paypal to:
[email protected] or by cheque payable to, MARMITE PRIZE FOR PAINTING.
The Requirements
We require you to submit two works to the MARMITE PRIZE FOR PAINTING:
one painting and one drawing.
The paintings will be subject to two stages, shortlisting for exhibition, and subsequent judging by the judges. Shortlisted artists will be notified by the end of October when arrangement will be made for delivery of work.
Winners will be announced at the exhibition Private View on 27 November.
All drawings entered will be published in the accompanying exhibition catalogue.
All entrants will receive two free copies of the catalogue.
The catalogue will be launched at the exhibition opening on 27 November
and will be available for collection throughout the exhibition. 25-30 November.
One entry per person/persona. All paintings must be wall hanging. No judgements will be made of what the words painting and drawing may mean to you. You will receive confirmation of receipt of application, images and payment.

The Catalogue
The exhibition catalogue will have one image per page.

A marmite is a large earthenware pot.
The Marmite Prize is curated by Marcus Cope and Stephanie Moran.
