Fiveways NHS Neighbourhood Health Centre
Deadline: 01 December, 2010
FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) and Liverpool City Council are currently working in partnership, as part of the Waiting Programme, with LSHP (Liverpool Sefton Health Partnership). The Waiting Programme is a series of artist commissions for health centres in Liverpool and Sefton. Several commissions are already completed and underway, the most recent addition to the programme is Fiveways NHS Neighbourhood Health Centre in Childwall, Liverpool.
The aim of this commission is to provide a piece of artwork for the waiting area of the Fiveways NHS Neighbourhood Health Centre. The function of the waiting area is to offer users a comfortable environment to wait for appointments. FACT wishes toprovide a very open brief at this initial stage. Specific areas we are interested in exploring within the commission include:
Collaborating with the library services and the developing a concept around learning and gaining knowledge
Liverpool Primary Care Trust’s Five Ways to Wellbeing which include Connect -
Be Active - Take Notice - Keep Learning – Give. www.2010healthandwellbeing.org.uk
Engaging with the wider community and/ or local health and well being groups
Interactivity for users with their environment
Users of the waiting area are potentially experiencing a stressful period in their lives, for example, they may be unwell or waiting for test results. We wish commission an artwork, which supports a positive experience and provides a distraction to the users situation. The artwork needs to have a high visual impact as well as being respectful of users personal space and the functionality of the space.
For a full brief, and plans of the space please contact†FACT's Waiting Coordinator (job share) Angharad Williams or Kathryn Dempsey via email to [email protected] or call 0151 707 4416.
