Generation is an innovative collaborative project between four visual arts venues in the North of England who share an ambition to increase engagement with family focused audiences who do not currently engage with their visual arts venues.
The venues are:
Berwick Visual Arts, Berwick-upon-Tweed(North East England)
The DLI Museum and Art Gallery, Durham (North East England)
Towneley Hall, Burnley (North West England)
Central Art Gallery, Ashton-under-Lyne (North West England)
The project will target primary school aged children (aged 0-11) their parents and grandparents through partnerships with local Children’s Centres and other local groups.
The project has been made possible through the support of the Arts Council England’s Strategic Touring Fund.
The Generation project partners now wish to commission 4 artists or arts organisations over the duration of the project to create high quality, inspiring, thought provoking, fun and challenging artworks of the highest quality that will engage with and enable interaction from family audiences.
Generation is a three year project and we are currently looking for artists to take part in Year 1 of the project and expressions of interest for Year 2 of the project.
We require established artists UK or internationally based artists who are recognised for producing high quality works of art and have been out of college (BA graduate or international equivalent) for a minimum of 6 years.
Applicants should have experience of producing works of an interactive nature and an understanding of the requirements of producing work for touring and working across a range of different venues with a range of different partners.
